Hello Hello!
Hi! I’m Cindy, one woman show behind all things at Tree Craft Diary, based in Jakarta, Indonesia. It’s been a while since I introduced myself, so with the recent new followers on IG I figured now is a good time! As of today, I am self-taught in jewelry design. Since I was young, I enjoyed making a variety of handicrafts, such as scrapbooks, cross-stitching wall decorations, card holders and keychains, sewing figurines with felt, forming mini cakes ornaments using clay material, and the list goes on… Because of my passion for arts and crafts, I decided to enroll in a design school at the university in Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia, and majored in industrial design, which then I gained my first degree. Fast forward, I worked in a corporate gifts company in Singapore for a while and that was when I realized I had to pursue my dream and start building my empire.
As I still had my day job, I could only unfold my creativity after work during nighttime. Among so many possibilities, I brainstormed the direction I should focus on. I want people to be able to enjoy my creations, and treasure and “carry” them everywhere, and for that reason, I chose to make jewelry as my core biz. I learned everything I needed from the very base. I defined the brand name and logo, searched for materials, learned how to make them, photographed them and then had my first item listed on my Etsy shop. I got my first sale three months after that. It was a fine Saturday morning when I woke up to find there was a transaction notification in my mailbox and I just couldn’t believe it! Someone bought my creation! That afternoon was the first time went to the post office and shipped the order to my first customer in Michigan, United States.
Week after week, I slowly built up my inventory and thence got a few sales, which made my confidence get stronger. Nevertheless to say that I am a fast-paced person. I felt that I would never have enough time to work on my biz if I only had night hours and weekends. I knew what I wanted and I would make my dream come true. So the sixth month after I built Tree Craft Diary, I decided to quit my full-time job and went back to my hometown, Jakarta – Indonesia, dedicated myself to embracing my passion and bringing Tree Craft Diary to the next level. It’s a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together.
That was in 2012, I made the best decision and never looked back since then…
I source all gems and crystals and make each piece with my own two hands, take every photo, write all of the descriptions, respond to your DMs and comments, take and prepare your orders, and the list goes on and on. It’s a lot for one person to do but I enjoy every bit of it!
Like the branches of a lush tree, inspiration never comes to an end. I keep growing and designing unique styles of jewelry and accessories in a contemporary way. Once every few months, I hunt for intriguing findings all over the world to add fresh sparks to our latest line.
Most of the creations are one-of-a-kind or made in limited pieces. I believe the unusual beauties speak for themselves. No matter how simple a bracelet is made or how a statement necklace is crafted, pairing them with your outfit will utterly double up your style!
